Qualifications Wales is leading the development of a new suite of qualifications for health and social care and childcare, these will be introduced from September 2019.
A review of the qualification introductions can be found on Qualification Wales’ website.
A consortium made up of City and Guilds and WJEC has been appointed as the sole providers of these qualifications in Wales. The consortium are asking the sector to feedback on the content of the new qualifications as they develop it – we would encourage you to look at this and let them know what you think. Please visit the City and Guilds website.
We hold a list of qualifications for those working with children below the age of eight years, in early years and childcare settings.
The List of Required Qualifications for Early Years and Childcare in Wales helps those who work in the sector, want to employ somebody in the sector or anybody else who may need to know about early years and childcare qualifications, understand what qualifications they will need to work in the early years and childcare sector in Wales.
Our list should be used alongside the qualification list produced by Skills Active, the Sector Skills Council for play workers and referring to standards and regulations stipulated by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).
