Ipsos Mori survey into the social care and childcare workforce in Wales

Social Care Wales

The Welsh Government has commissioned Ipsos MORI to carry out research to understand more about the staff who are working in the social care and childcare sectors as part of its Brexit preparations.

The purpose is to consider:

  • the current contribution of non-UK EU staff
  • the level of qualifications across the sector
  • the recruitment challenges
  • the many other issues that are affecting these sectors in Wales.

We, along with Care Forum Wales, RCN and UKHCA, have been involved in scoping the research and survey, and the work is also being supported by ADSS Cymru and the WLGA.

To make sure Ipsos MORI has access to reliable data, it needs as many providers as possible to take part in the survey.

Social care and childcare providers will have recently received an email or letter through the post with a unique code to link to the survey. This is a unique link for each provider so that Ipsos MORI can accurately monitor response rates. It can also check that quotas for different types of settings are met.

Telephone interviews are also being carried out to get the best possible response rate.

The Welsh Government would like to encourage all providers to complete the survey and to be reassured that this is an authorised survey it has commissioned.

If you are a provider and have misplaced your unique code, or have any questions, you can contact the research team at Ipsos MORI by email at WalesSCCCsurvey@ipsos.com or telephone on 0808 238 5376.
