Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a great opportunity for us to recognise, value and champion neurodivergent people who are such an essential part of our communities and the social care, early years and childcare sectors here in Wales.
We know that the strength of the social care, early years and childcare workforce lies in its diversity. Our neurodivergent colleagues bring an invaluable range of perspectives that strengthen the care and support provided to children, families and people across our communities daily.
Neurodiversity Celebration Week reminds us of our continued responsibility to build care and support services and workplaces where neurodivergent people are understood, respected and able to thrive without discrimination. That means building positive cultures by embracing different ways of thinking and working, removing barriers, and nurturing cultures where everyone feels confident to be their authentic selves.
As we celebrate Neurodiversity Celebration Week next week, I’d encourage you to take the opportunity to update your skills by undertaking professional learning, engaging with events, as well as using the week to reaffirm your commitment to neuro-inclusive practice.
