Changing your registration or applying for another registration

If you work in more than one role or are changing roles, you may need to change your registration.

You only need to do this in some situations, such as if you’re working in a different setting or a different type of role.

Here are some examples of changes you need to tell us about.

If you’ve changed from:

  • working in domiciliary care to working in a care home (or the other way around)
  • working with children to working with adults in a care home (or the other way around)
  • being a worker to a manager (or the other way around).

Deputy managers don’t always need to change their registration, so check with your line manager if you’re not sure.

You’ll also need to change your registration if you start working in more than one type of care role. For example, if you’re a domiciliary care worker and a care home worker.

How to change your registered role

If you need to change your registered role, you may need to complete a different qualification.

Your line manager can help you check. You can find out more about what qualifications you need to register on our Qualifications framework pages.
