Information about asking to be removed from the Register, what it means when registration lapses and advice for students who want to withdraw from their course.
Asking to be removed from the Register
If you’re registered with us, you can ask to be removed from the Register at any time.
If you don’t plan to work in Wales, you don’t need to be registered with us and you should ask to be removed from the Register.
- Log in to your SCWonline account
- Click ‘My Registration’
- Click ‘Request Removal’.
We’ll be in touch to confirm we’ve removed your name from the Register.
Working in other parts of the UK
If you plan on working in another part of the UK, you may need to register with the relevant organisation. You can find out more here:
If you don’t renew your registration
Your registration lasts up to three years.
If you don’t renew your registration before the end of the three years, or if you don’t pay your annual fee before it’s due, your registration will come to an end. This means you’ll no longer be on our Register and won’t be able to work in a social care role in Wales that requires registration. We’ll let your employer know.
If you want to return to the Register, you’ll need to complete a new application.
Students who withdraw from their course
If you’re registered with us as a student, your university will need to let us know if you’re no longer on the course. As you won’t need to be registered with us anymore, we’ll remove you from the Register and let you know.
Removal by agreement
If you’re subject to a fitness to practise investigation, you can ask to be removed from the Register. Our fitness to practise team will consider these requests based on the nature and circumstances of the case.
