Early years and childcare workforce survey 2026

Tell us about your experience of working in early years and childcare.

Tell us about your experiences of working in early years and childcare

Our survey of the early years and childcare workforce in Wales is now open.

This is the second year we’re carrying out the survey. What you told us last year has given us a clearer picture of the workforce, and this year’s survey will build on that, helping us understand what's changed, what still needs attention, and what support the workforce may need in the future.

Strategic Research and Insight (SRI) is managing the survey and analysing the findings on our behalf.

What you tell us will help us understand:

  • what people enjoy about their work
  • what support people need
  • what might help people stay in the sector
  • what could make early years and childcare a better place to work.

Who should take part?

We want to hear from people working across all early years and childcare roles and settings in Wales. This includes workers, managers and childminders, and people who work full-time or part-time.

Please help us reach as many people as possible by sharing the survey. The more people who take part, the stronger and more useful the findings will be.

How to take part

The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete.  Your responses will be anonymous – we won’t ask for your name and your responses won’t be linked back to you.

The survey will close on Monday, 30 November 2026. We’ll publish the results on our website in spring 2027 and share the findings with Welsh Government.
