We’ll update you about the latest developments in mental health law and tell you about upcoming changes to legislation. During the session you’re encouraged to take part in discussions about policy issues that affect practice, including the impact of Right Care Right Person and the role of the Police under section 136.
The series of masterclasses includes three webinars led by Neil Allen of 39 Essex Chambers and LPS Law. The sessions link the reform of the Mental Health Act and the impact of the changes to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) , and finish with a session on section 117 after-care.

Webinar 1: 9 April, 1pm to 3pm: Reforms of the Mental Health Act 2025 and the1983 Act ̶ implications for practice and legal updates.
Webinar 2: 30 April, 1pm to 3pm: The impact of DoLS legislative changes and how this links with the Mental Health Act.
Webinar 3: 6 May, 1pm to 3pm: Section 117 after-care duties, assessment and delivery.
