A care worker from Denbighshire, a virtual reality project based in Anglesey and an inclusive playworker from Merthyr Tydfil are among the finalists for the 2026 Accolades.
The prestigious awards recognise, celebrate and share notable practice in social care and childcare, play and early years in Wales.
The Accolades are open to care workers at all levels, as well as teams, projects and organisations from across the public, voluntary and independent sectors that have made a positive difference to people’s lives.
This year, a record 141 projects and care workers from across Wales entered or were nominated for the awards across seven categories.
The finalists were chosen by judging panels made up of our Board members, representatives from partner organisations and people with experience of using care and support.
The winners of three categories will be chosen by the public: the Inspirational Leadership, Learner of the Year and WeCare Wales awards. The public vote to decide the winners will open later this week.
The winners will be announced at the 2026 Accolades awards ceremony at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff on Thursday 2 July.
Sarah McCarty, our Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to have such a strong group of finalists that really showcase the excellent care work that’s happening all over Wales.
“Once again, we’ve received an exceptionally high standard of entries and the judges have had a difficult time whittling them down to just 19 finalists.
“This year’s Accolades has given us some fantastic examples of inspiring and dedicated workers, teams and organisations who are providing high quality care and support to children, adults and families in communities across Wales.
“It’s vital we take this time to say thank you to our committed and dedicated care workers, and to recognise and celebrate the positive difference they make to people’s lives.
“Congratulations to the 19 finalists! I look forward to welcoming you all to the awards ceremony in July, and to recognising, celebrating and sharing your wonderful efforts and achievements.”
