We’re delighted to announce that BASW Cymru and Life Sciences Hub Wales are among the first organisations to have signed up to sponsor the 2024 Accolades.
The Accolades, which have been running since 2005, are annual awards organised by us that recognise, celebrate and share excellent work across social care and childcare, play and early years in Wales.
BASW Cymru will sponsor the ‘Looking after and improving workforce well-being’ category.
While Life Sciences Hub Wales is sponsoring the ‘Working in partnership’ category.
Judging for the 2024 awards is currently underway and the winner will be announced at a celebratory event at Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel on 25 April 2024.
BASW Cymru is the professional association for social work and social workers in Wales. They support members in their day-to-day practice, campaign on key issues relating to social work and influence government policy and legislation across Wales.
Professor Samantha Baron, National Director for BASW Cymru, said: “It’s an absolute honour to sponsor this year’s category ‘Looking after and improving workforce well- being’ given the huge pressure services and social workers are under.
“Looking after and improving workforce well-being is key to retaining new and experienced social workers at a time of significant vacancies where social workers on average stay within their roles for up to eight years, below average when compared to comparative professions.
“We welcome the opportunity to celebrate strategies to improve wellbeing and are proud to be partnering again with Social Care Wales in such an important area.”
Life Sciences Hub Wales works with social care, industry, the NHS and academia to drive vital innovations to the frontline of care that support the evolving needs of staff and service users – ultimately improving well-being, health and prosperity across the nation.
Cari-Anne Quinn, Chief Executive Officer at Life Sciences Hub Wales, said: “It’s an honour for Life Sciences Hub Wales to support the Accolades for the second year running, this time by sponsoring the ‘Working in partnership’ category.
“Our organisation acts as a dynamic interface between many diverse partners in the health and social care innovation ecosystem.
“We know just how important strong collaboration in projects is for making a difference to people’s health and well-being, as well as the work that’s put in to such partnerships to deliver meaningful change.
“We’re proud to be partnering with Social Care Wales to recognise and celebrate the tireless work and dedication from staff, carers and organisations across Wales.”
Sue Evans, our Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Life Sciences Hub Wales and BASW Cymru on board as sponsors for the 2024 Accolades.
“BASW Cymru and Life Sciences Hub Wales are valued partners and we’re really pleased to be working with them on the Accolades, which play a vital role in recognising, celebrating and saying thank you to our dedicated, hard-working care workers in Wales.
“Organising an awards ceremony is a huge undertaking and we couldn’t do it without the support of our sponsors. A big thank you to BASW Cymru and Life Sciences Hub Wales for your continued support of the social care and childcare, play and early years sectors in Wales.”
