This week, we’re celebrating Social Work Week.
Every day throughout Wales, social workers offer their professional advice and support to some of the most vulnerable members of society. Social Work Week gives us the chance to mark the excellent work being carried out across the country and thank hard-working social work professionals who are dedicated to empowering and supporting others.
Sue Evans, our Chief Executive, said: “The work that social workers do every day across Wales is a fundamental part of our public service.
“Social workers empower people, promote their independence and also help to safeguard children and adults at risk, and I’d like to offer my personal thanks to them for choosing this valuable and worthwhile profession.”
We’ve organised an exciting programme of events for the week, open to anyone with an interest in social work in Wales. This includes practitioners, students, employers and people who receive care and support.
The events focus on collaboration, well-being and areas of practice improvement. We’ll be joined by speakers from BASW Cymru, Carers Wales, Cardiff University and local authorities, as well as specialists in areas such as well-being, neurodiversity and strengths-based practice.
We’ll also be sharing videos about the importance of social work and the difference it makes to the lives of vulnerable people across Wales.
Keep an eye on our social media channels throughout the week to see inspiring messages.
