Shwmae and welcome to our latest bulletin.
As we approach the end of December, many of you will be planning celebrations with friends, colleagues, family and in your settings with the individuals you support.
You might be marking Hanukkah – the Jewish Festival of Lights; Kwanzaa – a celebration of African and African American culture; Yule – the winter solstice observed in many traditions; Ōmisoka – the Japanese New Year celebration; St. Lucy’s Day – a Scandinavian feast day and Christmas!
This is often a time of excitement and joy, but it can also bring added pressure or worries for some families and team members. If you need support, we’ve gathered resources to help with workforce well-being here, and we will be running a well-being week in the new year.
I want to thank:
- all the services who nominated themselves or colleagues for the Accolades awards – your entries are now with our judges, and we’ve had an amazing response
- everyone who took part in our have your say survey – your feedback matters
- everyone who joined us to help co-produce or comment on our resources and services, or attend our events or communities to support and share your practice.
Most importantly, a big diolch – thank you for the dedicated and empowering care and support you provide every day to individuals and families across Wales. The Chief Inspector’s report earlier this year highlighted the high number of good and excellent services in Wales, reflecting your commitment to delivering quality care.
We know that most people join this sector to make a real difference, and your ongoing dedication will make sure we continue to improve and that values are lived out in practice.
