We’re committed to supporting the National Care Service Programme for Wales, which was announced last week by the National Office for Care and Support.
The National Care Service Programme sets out how the Welsh Government will create a more consistent and sustainable care system that puts people first.
Sarah McCarty, our Chief Executive, said:
“We look forward to building on our work with the National Office for Care and Support and partners across the sector to contribute to the National Care Service Programme.
“This programme is an important step towards the Welsh Government’s ambition for a National Care Service in Wales. Social Care Wales is committed to playing our part in supporting the leadership and development needed to help make that ambition a reality.
“We will work closely with partners to support the workforce, strengthen the strategic use of social care data and evidence, and contribute our expertise to support a sustainable social care system for the future.
“Earlier this month, we published the findings of our annual workforce survey which highlighted a strong sense of purpose across social care. The workforce continues to demonstrate its commitment to making a difference to people's lives in communities across Wales.
"At the same time, we know there is more to do to support, develop and retain the talented people the sector needs for the future.
“Through our established partnerships, joint strategies, work programmes, data and evidence, we'll help to shape and support the development of the National Care Service Programme.”
The National Care Service Programme will focus on six foundations:
- clear national leadership and accountability
- fair funding and reliable care
- a valued and sustainable workforce
- data, digital and outcomes
- prevention, safeguarding and strong communities
- seamless social care and support.
