'Your views directly inform how we and our partners develop support for the social care workforce in Wales'

| Sarah McCarty, Chief Executive

We send a regular e-bulletin to everyone on our Register. Each e-bulletin includes a message from our Chief Executive, Sarah McCarty.

Here's Sarah's message in full from our February 2026 e-bulletin.

Shwmae and welcome to our latest bulletin.

This edition marks the launch of our new Codes of Professional Practice. These have been developed in direct response to your feedback, making the Codes simpler, clearer and easier to use in day‑to‑day practice.

They'll go live on 1 July, allowing employers and training providers time to update their resources and policies. The Codes set out the standards you must work towards, so I encourage everyone to read them carefully and make sure you're confident in applying them.

One area we've strengthened is our expectations around anti‑discriminatory practice, you must respect, support and promote equality, diversity and inclusion, and must not discriminate against individuals, carers, colleagues or any other person.

I urge all workers to consider how you actively support anti‑discriminatory practice in your daily work. You can complete our anti racism e‑learning here. We're also running dedicated sessions for managers on embedding anti‑discriminatory approaches across organisations.

We'll continue to support social care in Wales. The Have Your Say survey is now open, providing you with the opportunity to share your experiences. Your views directly inform how we and our partners develop support for the social care workforce in Wales, so I'd be grateful if you could take a few minutes to take part in the survey.

If you're a Social Worker we have a large number of events coming up in Social Work week to support and celebrate your practice.

I hope you enjoy the rest of this bulletin,

Thank you for all the work you do in all our communities.

Sarah
