Social Care Wales statement on the past week's events

| Social Care Wales

Social Care Wales believes that equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of social care and social work, and we will continue to place respect for all people in Wales at our core.

We have been appalled at the racist and violent behaviour across parts of the UK. We remain committed to an anti-racist Wales, and stand against racism in all forms.

We welcome the diversity of the social care, early years and childcare workforce, who play a critical role in all our communities supporting and empowering individuals of all nationalities, faiths and ethnicities. We recognise your dedication, and that you will continue to support the most vulnerable individuals in every community in Wales.

But we also recognise that events like these can be scary and upsetting.

Don’t be afraid to reach out to colleagues or your managers if you need support, or you feel someone else may be struggling, particularly colleagues directly impacted by racism.

And of course there is help available online on our website or through Canopi, the free and confidential mental health support service for social care and NHS staff in Wales aged 18 years and over.
