Competency skills framework of the All Wales induction framework for early years and childcare managers

Information about the competency skills framework for early years and childcare managers.

The competency skills framework of the All Wales induction framework for early years and childcare managers is practice-based and it allows new managers in a Flying Start setting to gather evidence-based leadership and management skills.

It aligns with the mandatory learning outcomes of the City & Guilds Level 5 Leadership and Management of Children’s Care, Play, Learning, and Development: Practice qualification. While this qualification isn’t required in all early years and childcare settings, it’s mandatory for leadership positions in Flying Start settings.

You can find the list of approved qualifications for a Flying Start leader / person in charge here: Flying Start leader / person in charge.

You’ll be collecting evidence in a natural way, through your day-to-day work, using a variety of evidence and mapping your evidence into your progress logs.

We have a guidebook to help you complete the progress logs. You can find the competency skills guidebook here: Competency skills guidebook of the All Wales induction framework for early years and childcare managers.

Once the progress logs have been completed, you can download the certificate of successful completion: Certificate of successful completion.
