The director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of social work and/or social care within an organisation, including strategic planning, the commissioning of services and service development/planning.

Directors are expected to have a significant understanding of social care and statutory social services and their relationship to the wider organisation if applicable. Organisational management and delivery as well as managing change, being responsible for their workforce and responding to political drivers, legislation and policy are expected. Leadership is a critical part of this role.
Specific experience will be dictated by each individual organisation as necessary.
