A social worker or other approved professional (including community psychiatric nurse, psychologist or occupational therapist) appointed to exercise designated functions under the Mental Health Act. Approved mental health professionals are trained to apply elements of mental health law with medical practitioners.

Required to register:
A relevant professional qualification from social work, nursing, occupational therapy or psychology
and

Postgraduate Certificate (Approved Mental Health Professional)
or
A course approved by the appropriate regulatory council as meeting the AMHP requirements.
