1
00:00:07 --> 00:00:10
The project that you're here to
see today is the Pembrokeshire
2
00:00:10 --> 00:00:16
County Council's Supported Employment project.
It encompasses a really wide range of different
3
00:00:16 --> 00:00:21,
projects, so from employability support
where we help people who are
4
00:00:21 --> 00:00:24
looking for work, all the way through
to our social enterprises where we
5
00:00:24 --> 00:00:29
employ people with a disability.
Only five per cent of people with a learning
6
00:00:29 --> 00:00:34
disability that are known to social services
across Wales are actually in employment
7
00:00:34 --> 00:00:39
and only 22 per cent of people with autism
are employed, so we felt it was really important
8
00:00:39 --> 00:00:44
that everybody had an opportunity
to have employment, and not just
9
00:00:44 --> 00:00:48
those who are physically able.
I've been doing a lot of training with
10
00:00:49 --> 00:00:54
this particular role.
I've been doing up as far as a Level 3 NVQ
11
00:00:55 --> 00:00:59
in Administration.
I've benefitted in a lot of ways,
12
00:00:59 --> 00:01:03
I think it was just generally
being able to have my independence.
13
00:01:03 --> 00:01:06
I'm guessing I wouldn't be
as sociable as I am really.
14
00:01:06 --> 00:01:09
There's always a choice to have a go at it,
15
00:01:09 --> 00:01:15
and obviously it's not for everyone
but I would recommend it, going into
16
00:01:15 --> 00:01:20
a place like this and enjoy a lot of memories.
17
00:01:20 --> 00:01:22
My confidence has grown,
18
00:01:22 --> 00:01:27
because now I'm living independently
for the first time in my lifetime
19
00:01:28 --> 00:01:33
and it's just given me that drive to say
right, get up, get to work. Because I
20
00:01:33 --> 00:01:37
always wanted to come to work,
because I never like letting people down
21
00:01:37 --> 00:01:39
and just come when I can.
22
00:01:39 --> 00:01:41
It's so rewarding.
23
00:01:41 --> 00:01:45
So, definitely a huge benefit for anybody
thinking about doing it.
