Hello, I’m Sarah, the new Chief Executive of Social Care Wales. I started in the role at the end of July, so I’ve been in the job almost two months now.
I believe we have a role to support your work in a number of ways – for example, we provide bursaries for social work education, access to well-being resources, and develop qualification and learning opportunities. Over the next two years, we’ll be improving our registration processes to make it easier for you to register and re-register with us.
We support employers with funding for training and learning, frameworks, access to evidence of what works, innovation coaching and evaluation support. We also give them access to communities to create safe spaces where they can share ideas and what works.
We provide evidence to inform developments in the social care sector, too, and the workforce survey is one way we do this. Thank you to everyone who took the time to have their say – we’ll share what you told us in our next update.
I’m committed to continuing to improve what we do and I’d welcome any feedback on our work at newCEO@socialcare.wales.
Celebrating and sharing the excellent work you do is something I’m keen to focus on, and I’m determined to continue raising awareness and improving your profile.
We know from what you’ve told us that many of you don’t feel appreciated by the public for the invaluable work you do. But when we’ve asked them, we’ve found the majority have a positive perception of your work.
Thank you for all you do to support our communities!
