Experts wanted: help us support more people from ethnic minorities to become social care leaders

| Social Care Wales

Do you work in social care and come from an ethnic minority background? We want to hear from you!

We’re running group sessions so you can help shape social care leadership programmes that are fair for people from ethnic minorities in Wales.

This is the next step of our work to support Welsh Government’s Anti-racist action plan and to develop future social care leaders in Wales.

We asked people from ethnic minorities working in social care how things are now, and what kind of support would help them get into leadership roles.

Now, we’d like you to join our expert advisory group sessions, to use what we’ve learned to help shape programmes or opportunities that meet the needs of the people who gave us feedback.

We want to make sure that any future leadership development programmes are sustainable, racially just, fair, and equitable for all future social care leaders in Wales.

About the sessions

The sessions are open to anyone from a minority ethnic background working in social care in Wales, including staff and managers.

Each session will last about two hours and will take place on Zoom.

You only need to attend one session.

You'll get a £45 Amazon voucher as a thank you for taking part.

We’ve asked the Oxford Brookes Institute of Public Care (IPC) to run these sessions for us.

Tutu Adebiyi and Christine Wint will be running the sessions.

We know it can be difficult to share personal experiences, so there’ll be someone to talk to afterwards if you want to.
