Help us review our codes of professional practice and practice guidance

| Social Care Wales

We’re making changes to our codes of professional practice, practice guidance and fitness to practise principles to make sure they’re right for those working in the social care sector in Wales.

To help us do this, we want to hear your views about them. Are they still fit for purpose? Are things missing? How do you currently use them?

We’ll use your feedback to put together a consultation about our proposed changes, which we’ll share in 2024, with a view to making any changes in 2025.

We’ll keep you updated as this work progresses and let you know how things are going.

Sue Evans, our Chief Executive, said: “Every social care worker, manager and employer in Wales is expected to work in-line with our codes of professional practice and practice guidance, which is why it’s so important we review them regularly and capture your views about them.

“We’re really keen to hear from anyone working in the social care sector about them to make sure they’re fit for purpose and meet your needs.

“Reviewing the codes of professional practice and practice guidance will also help us make sure they’re easy for workers, managers and employers to follow and understand, which in turn will help keep people relying on care and support safe.”

How you can get involved

We’ve commissioned an external company called Urban Foresight to help us gain valuable feedback from the social care sector about the resources.

If you’d like to share your views, you can complete the survey to share your thoughts on the Codes and practice guidance for social care.
