Our temporary Register of Social Workers closed on 30 September.
In 2020, Welsh Government asked us to set up a new temporary Register of social workers. We did this to make more social workers available during the pandemic, and to allow social workers who had left between 2017 and 2020 to come back to the profession.
This Register was created under legislation passed by UK Parliament, and it had different rules to our permanent Register.
The Welsh Government has now told us we no longer need the temporary Register, and asked us to close it on 30 September.
We’ve shared this information with the small number of social workers on the temporary Register and offered them support to move to the permanent Register.
