We carry out this survey so that we can monitor trends in what people think about working in social care.

The findings help shape the support we and our partners offer, as well as highlighting important issues to policymakers in Welsh Government.

We ask questions about things like your health, well-being, pay and conditions.

We want to find out more about what people like about working in social care in Wales and where more support is needed.

We’re working with Professor Jermaine Ravalier at Buckinghamshire New University to carry out the 2025 survey.

Professor Ravalier is a world-leading researcher looking at the working conditions and well-being of social care workers.

Our partnership will allow us to compare our findings with workforce data collected across Wales, the UK and around the world to identify trends or differences in the experiences of workers.

Professor Ravalier also led the 2024 survey.

We want people from all age groups, backgrounds and social care roles to take part in this survey.

Your views will be important in giving us a truly representative picture of what things are like for those working in social care in Wales today.

Telling us what you think will help shape the support we and our partners offer.

The information we collect will only be used for research and to produce statistics about the workforce. Your contact details are kept separate from your answers and won’t be passed on to anyone outside of the research project. The survey is completely anonymous – no one will know who's taken part.

Your answers will be combined with those of others taking part in the survey. The researchers will then send us the results and analysis, which will be published in a report on our website. This won’t include your name or contact details, and no individual will be identifiable from the results.

Anonymous data from certain sections of the survey will also be shared with Welsh Government to inform the Workforce Race Equality Standard.

You won’t receive any ‘junk mail’ as a result of taking part.

We’ll use the information we collect to help us decide how we and our partners can best support you in your work. We’ll share our findings with Welsh Government and other national organisations to make sure your voice is heard by policymakers.

We’ll also use the data to compare findings across different job roles and nations. This will then be published in a report on our website.

No - completion of this survey is voluntary.

But we’d encourage you to respond to as many of the questions as you feel comfortable with.

The more complete the information we collect, the more useful it is when we analyse the results and respond to the findings.

In October we announced the results of our 2024 survey, which found that social care workers feel more valued for the work they do than they did in 2023, but their well-being is worse than the UK average.

We've also used the findings of the previous surveys to create briefings that summarise and highlight key information about the social care workforce in Wales.
