Research strategy for Wales

Our vision is for Wales to be internationally renowned for excellent social care research that supports the people of Wales, by informing and improving social care policy and practice.

Our ambition is to help improve well-being by applying evidence-based policy, practice and service models that have a focus on prevention and early intervention. Our activities are set out in a five-year research and development strategy.

The proposals cover five areas;

  • involving the public in social care research and development
  • research priorities
  • use of existing and routinely collected data
  • developing the workforce and organisations
  • making research results available.

The strategy, launched in February 2018, includes 16 additional recommendations to help create and enhance the research and development of social care in Wales.

We have also written an implementation plan for the strategy. Both documents were developed with people from different parts of the sector in Wales, including those who use care and support, work in social care and those within research and policy areas.

If you have any comments, feedback or questions on either or would like to be involved in the future please feel free to Contact us.
