Tell us what you think about the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Health and Social Care and Children’s Care, Learning and Development

| Social Care Wales

We’re reviewing the National Occupational Standards for Health and Social Care and Children’s Care Learning and Development, and we want to hear what you think of our proposed changes.

The NOS are a set of statements that describe what’s expected of someone working in social care or early years and childcare. They’re used across the UK.

They describe the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to do a particular job to a nationally recognised level of competence. It’s important these standards are up to date and relate to the skills and knowledge needed in different roles.

As part of our review, we’ve:

  • simplified the language and made sure it reflects current practice
  • combined different NOS to remove duplication, where appropriate
  • identified and dealt with gaps in the content.

Share your feedback

We’d like to know what you think about our proposed changes. We’ve created four sample NOS documents for you to go through and share your feedback.

You can take part in the consultation online and it takes around 15 minutes to complete.

By taking part in this consultation you can help make sure that the NOS are fit for purpose and reflect current practice.

The consultation is open from 4 August to 19 September.
