Help us revise our practice guidance for the Codes of Professional Practice

| Social Care Wales

We’re updating our Codes of Professional Practice for social care workers and employers to make sure they’re as clear and easy to use as possible.

The Institute of Public Care (IPC) at Oxford Brookes University is helping us to improve and update the practice guidance associated with the Codes.

Building on feedback that’s already been shared, we want to make sure the new practice guidance is meaningful and useful for everyday practice. This means we want it to be written clearly, well-structured, easy to navigate and update, and in an accessible format.

To help us get this right, IPC is organising a series of consultation events in May. These will he held online and last two hours. They’re open to:

  • social care workers (care worker and care staff)
  • social workers
  • team managers
  • senior managers
  • anyone else who’s interested in this subject.

During the sessions you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the revised practice guidance. We’re keen to know what works best for you, and to know more about your experience of using existing practice guidance materials.

The sessions will take place on:
    • Tuesday 13 May, 10am to 12pm: Session for care staff, social workers and team managers
    • Wednesday 14 May, 3pm to 5pm: Session for care staff, social workers and team managers
    • Tuesday 20 May 3pm to 5pm: Welsh speaking session for anyone wishing to contribute in Welsh
    • Wednesday 21 May, 12pm to 2pm: Session for Middle and senior managers
    • Thursday 22 May, - 10am to 12pm: General session for anyone who can’t attend any of the other dates.

If you have questions about these events, please contact Lucy Asquith lasquith@brookes.ac.uk or Steph Lyons on slyons@brookes.ac.uk.
