Overview

Independent professional advocacy

These resources are designed to give you an overview of the key aspects of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 in relation to advocacy and specifically Independent Professional Advocacy. Developed by Age Cymru, in partnership with Disability Wales, Swansea University and former Action for Advocacy Chief Executive Martin Coyle, they explore Part 10 of the Act on advocacy and how advocacy fits with other parts of the Act. They also aim to build awareness and understanding of advocacy among those who could have the potential to work with, or make referrals to, advocacy services.

National approach to statutory advocacy training

TGP Cymru has developed the training below, which can be used by any professionals working in social care, including foster carers and social workers.
